FREDDIE LENA OF MOUNT KISCO PASSED AWAY AT NORTHERN WESTCHESTER HOSPITAL ON JUNE 22. HE WAS 86 YEARS OLD. FREDDIE WAS BORN ON OCTOBER 18, 1933 IN BROOKLYN TO ELIZABETH CARBONE LENA AND FRED LENA. HE MOVED TO MOUNT KISCO AT A VERY YOUNG AGE. HE GRADUATED FROM MOUNT KISCO HIGH SCHOOL IN 1952, WHERE HE WAS THE PRESIDENT OF HIS CLASS. ON SEPTEMBER 25, 1955 HE MARRIED JOAN TARCHINE, HIS LOVING WIFE OF NEARLY 65 YEARS, AT ST. FRANCIS CHURCH IN MOUNT KISCO. THEY HAVE TWO DAUGHTERS, MARY ROMANO (MICHAEL) OF PAWLING, NY AND PATRICIA LENA OF DANBURY, CT. THEY ALSO HAVE THREE GRANDCHILDREN; JESSICA CIANCI (CHRIS), MICHAEL ROMANO, AND MATTHEW KREY. THEY WERE HIS PRIDE AND JOY. FRED WAS A SERGEANT IN THE TOWN OF YORKTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT AND RETIRED AFTER 25 YEARS OF SERVICE. HE LATER WORKED FOR PEPSI COLA AND JOHN JAY HIGH SCHOOL IN CROSS RIVER, NY. FRED WAS PROUD TO SERVE IN THE U.S. ARMY DURING THE KOREAN WAR. HE WAS AN EX-CAPTAIN AND EX-PRESIDENT OF THE MUTUAL ENGINE & HOSE COMPANY OF MOUNT KISCO, WHERE HE WAS A MEMBER FOR 62 YEARS. HE WAS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE AMERICAN LEGION POST 136 OF MOUNT KISCO. FRED WAS A PARISHIONER OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI CHURCH IN MOUNT KISCO, AND ST, MATTHEWS IN HALLENDALE BEACH FLORIDA, HIS ANNUAL THREE MONTH TRIPS TO FLORIDA WITH JOAN, WHERE HE PLAYED GOLF WITH HIS BUDDIES, WALKED DAILY ON THE BEACH, AND SIMPLY ENJOYED THE NICE WEATHER BRO GREAT HAPPINESS. HE ALWAYS LIKED TAKING LONG WALKS IN THE FRESH AIR NO MATTER WHERE HE WAS. HE WOULD TAKE HIS WIFES HAND AND SAY "LETS GO FOR A WALK" ON ANY DAY THE WEATHER PERMITTED. FREDS FIRST PRIORITY IN LIFE HAS ALWAYS BEEN HIS FAMILY. HE WILL BE SADLY MISSED BY ALL. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, THE FAMILY REQUESTS CONTRIBUTIONS TO BE MADE TO ST.
