Obituary of Emanuela Florio

Please share a memory of Emanuela to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Emanuela Florio (nee Imperati) was born in Agerola(NA), Italy, on March 16, 1949. She immigrated to The Bronx, NY at the age of 15, along with her father and 2 of her siblings, where she attended and then graduated from P.S. 45. Shortly then after, she started working at Stella D'Oro Factory and met her husband, Salvatore in 1964. They married in May 1968 and went on to have a daughter and then twin sons. Emanuela continued to work at Stella D'Oro until her and her family took over DeLillo's Pastry Shop on 187th & Arthur Avenue in September 1984. Emanuela had a great work ethic and a great sense of humor. It was her salacious humor that drew people to her. She was vivacious and had a zest for life. She always wanted to have a good time; loved to laugh and dance. Let's not forget her love of the slots and a good card game. She also loved her red wine... nu bellu caffè e 'na sigaretta! Emanuela's heart was filled with love and generosity and the only woman in history to have a following at the bakery... entertaining her many friends and patrons with her own style of stand-up comedy. She could light up a room and was the life of the party! Heaven will never be the same! Emanuela is survived by her husband of 52 years, Salvatore; daughter, Giuseppina and son-in-law Marco, son Salvatore and daughter-in-law Stefania and son Anthony; her 2 grandchildren, Emanuela and Salvatore; her siblings, Matteo Imperati, twin Silvio Imperati and Camille Avitabile; and many nieces and nephews that loved her as much as she loved them. She is predeceased by her parents, Antonio and Adelina, her sisters, Nicoletta Ferrara and Elena Cuomo and her brother, Sabato Imperati. Visitation will be held at Sinatra Funeral Home, 499 Yonkers Avenue on Sunday, August 2, 2020, from 3:00 pm-7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 627 E. 187th Street in the Bronx. Burial immediately following at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY.
