I met Jimmy 30 years ago through Hastings Drug. He was a daily visitor in the morning, and we'd have coffee together. He was selling office supplies, and drove a maroon audi sports car. He loved working on his car on the weekend. He was very good at building things, be it
stone, wood, metal or electrical. He had an unusual sense of humor. He was a very good friend to me and my family. He loved Carol tremendously and took care of her. He loved his mother, and sister and Im sure his dad too although his dad lived in florida. Jimmy bragged about being a 6 year student at a 2 yr junior college in Florida. Perhaps it was a way to avoid the draft, or perhaps he just loved living in a house with bikers.
I know this...if you needed a favor, Jimmy would not say no.
He was fond of his friends, be them long time like Al Straub and Bootsy Knapp, or newer ones from the different political parties he was active about. His concern was for his family, and the town he grew up and lived in.
He was unique and will be missed

Jim was my rock. And the wind beneath my wings. I know my Stazy Poo is on his favorite train to glory.
Thank You to everyone for your concern and offers of help of any kind. I do want to take up everyone on their offer as I do need all the support I can get. I am staying with my daughter until at least Saturday but I am able to retrieve my messages from home. If anyone would like to correspond by email send to cbennett1945@gmail.com.

Jim and I go back a long way. I always concidered Jim a good friend. As others have said, Jim had a great sense of humor, and a kind heart. Jim loved to shoot and hang with the PD. I taught him to shoot many years ago and had a lot of fun with him. I will miss seeing him in the Village, as he had become a fixture. He seemed to like everyone. He was more than willing to help you if you asked. Sometimes he would help even if you didn't ask. I know he liked hanging in Hasting Drug, and I kidded him about become a drugest.
But I guess his main reason for being there is he got to meet so many people. I have many more fond memories of Jim, and I know I will miss him.

After my father's passing in June of this year, I felt even a closer bond with my brother. I loved him dearly, even though there were issues we disagreed on and couldn't talk about. I knew he was always there for me and would listen and help me in any way he could. He loved Hastings and all his friends so much. He took care of all the stray cats, raccoons and possum outside. In fact, the last conversation I remember having with him was about the possum and really fat raccoon coming in our hall to eat the cat food. We also shared a love for my mother's cooking and we both continued to cook ethnic foods that she made. We would always give each other stuffed cabbage, ham and noodles and other foods when we made them. He loved a certain cookie I make at Christmas and would get really happy when I knocked on his door with a plate of them. I remember one year he told me he was going to hide them from Carol. LOL. I am really going to miss him. Jim, I love you.
Your sister, Arlene

Jimmy as I called him, was one of the most genuine people I ever knew. He would call me here in Garden City and give me step by step instuctions on how to make the perfect gimlet, it has to be Rose's lime juice.
We would have a three-way conversation with Karen in Albany...what great memories you leave me with. I remember that 2 week training we went to together on Park Avenue of all places. We just had a hoot, and drove the instructer crazy. The strike coverage from 2000 in Garden City. What an great time we had.
I know you wanted to kill me, because I was in the incharge and your talk time was off the charts....
Jimmy you will creep into thoughts every now and than and I'm sure a smile will appear as well.
A true gentlemen, my friend Jimmy Stadler

Jim will be remembered as a true team mate to our Verizon family. Always willing to take the positive approach despite the task at hand. The quintessential giver, so many times he switched his schedule to accomodate others, I'm glad he was a part of our old Brooklyn team and happy for him as he moved on. It was a blessing to have known him.

Jim was the best friend of everyone in need. He never looked for public recognition or position, he was simply there when there was a job to be done. He was a quiet, gentle, fun-loving, loyal human being with a clear vision of the important things in life. Everyone who knew Jim loved him, including me.

A huge, horrible loss for our home town, and for all who were lucky enough to know him. Jim was that rarity, a genuine peacemaker: someone who knew how to recognize the partial merit in many points of view and was often able to reconcile them with a solution all could live with. We shall have to try very hard to achieve the same without him. Heartfelt condolences to Jim's family and friends, whose bereavement is unimaginable.

If there were more Jim Stadlers in this world it would be a better place. With his quiet humor, humble manner, huge heart and mischevious smile he made everyone who knew him feel at ease and at home. Big Daddy J, BDJ - or just Big Daddy: we will always love you. It hasn't completely sunk in that we won't see his beat up Honda parked in front of Amjos, or him walking down Warburton Avenue or in the A & P, or standing in a party with a Budweiser in his hand, but as is supposedly written on Patsy Cline's grave: "you cannot bury that which never dies."
Jim's goodness and kindness and playful good humor will always live on. We will never forget our beloved friend.

I just received the news of Jim's passing. Though I haven't spoken to Jim in a few years whenever his name came up, I would fine myself shaking my head and laughing about one of his ideas. I also agree that his "meals" were always a mystery!
Carol, he always spoke of you with love in his voice.
