Carol Basso Shapiro age 83 of Yonkers died Thursday, April 29, 2021. Carol was born on April, 14, 1938 in Bronx New York to the late Alexander and Sadie Basso. Carol worked for the Yonkers Board of Education before retiring in 2016.Carol lived life to the fullest, the life of every party. She was a beloved mother, mema, aunt and friend. A second mother to many. Beloved wife of the late Lewis (Buddy) Shapiro. Carol is survived by her children: Cathy (Eddie) Ryan, Mark (Joan) Shapiro , Jerry(Josephine) Shapiro, Carol Shapiro, David Shapiro,5 grandchildren and 7 great grand-children, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 4 siblings. Friends may call on Monday from 4PM to 8PM at Sinatra Memorial Home, Inc., 499 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers, NY. The funeral mass will be Tuesday at 10:00 at St. John The Baptist Church, 670 Yonkers Ave, Yonkers. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hastings-on-Hudson. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Pinkal Desai and the hematology/oncology team at Weill Cornell Medicine in NYC.
