Frank M. Duffy, 79, of Somers, NY died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach. Mr. Duffy was born December 27, 1930 in Mt. Kisco, NY and has been a winter resident of Vero Beach for 10 years. He served in the U.S. Army with the 40th Infantry Division as a rifle company platoon leader, fighting at Heartbreak Ridge, The Punch Bowl, Sand Bag Castle, etc., during the Korean Conflict for which he received the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge and various medals from the United States, United Nations and Korea. He was the Owner/Operator of Frank Duffy & Son Plumbing and Heating in Mt. Kisco, NY. Mr. Duffy was the Citizen of the Year in 1977 for Mt. Kisco, NY, a Trustee for the Village of Mt. Kisco, NY for 3 years. Mr. Duffy was a 33 year Trustee of the Board for Northern Westchester Hospital, seven as Chairman of the Board, a Boys Club Director, Chairman of two housing projects in the Village, and was a Village Board member that passed the Urban Renewal Project. He also established the Westchester EMS Fly-Car Paramedic Service and was a member of the American Legion and a 50 year member of the Mt. Kisco Indenpent Fire Department. Survivors include his wife of 54 years Margaret Duffy of Mt. Kisco, NY, sons Frank P. Duffy of Mt. Kisco, NY, David T. Duffy of Vero Beach, FL, Andrew P. Duffy of Katonah, NY James D. Duffy of Mt. Kisco, NY and Charles P. Duffy of South Salem, NY and eleven grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters. Friends may call at the Oelker-Cox & Sinatra Funeral Home, 262 E. Main St. Mt. Kisco on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass Monday at 10AM St Francis of Assisi Church. Interment St. Francis Cemetery.
