Obituary of Ronald J. Volpicelli

Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On the morning of October 13th, 2024, Ronald Volpicelli, affectionately known to those around him as "Pop" or "Poppy," passed away peacefully in his sleep at 95. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lucille, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ronald was born on July 23, 1929, to Pasqualina and Pasquale Volpicelli, in Yonkers, New York. He was the youngest of 11. He was predeceased by brothers James, Frederick, Ferrell, and Trevis, and sisters Marie Conway, Lillian Ferine, Beatrice Calise, Anna Cataldo, Antoinette Fitzpatrick, and Elaine Gentile. Ronald spent his life in Yonkers, marrying Lucille in 1953 and working at Phelps Dodge Corporation. The "Lovebirds" had two children: Ronald II (Leslie) Volpicelli and Debbie (Joe) Falcone. From here, his family only grew. He welcomed grandchildren Ronald III Volpicelli, Joseph Falcone (deceased), Douglas Falcone, and Lisa Volpicelli. In the early 2000s, he even welcomed his two great-grandchildren Julianne and Jack Volpicelli. In 1994 Ronald retired from his longtime job. However, he was never bored and thoroughly enjoyed his 30 years of retirement. He spent the rest of his life creating memories with his family and loving them unconditionally. He had a variety of hobbies that he indulged in, such as painting, woodworking, reading, and crossword puzzles. Evidence of these hobbies can be found everywhere, from paintings with handcrafted frames he gifted to his beloved family to the cane he made for himself which still resides in his home. Ronald's greatest joy was his family. Their memories of him will live forever - such as the time when his eldest great-grandchild was going to take the bus to kindergarten for the first time, and he offered to follow the bus in his car to ensure her safety. Such was the all-encompassing love of "Pop" Volpicelli. He was also a devout Catholic and could be found most mornings attending mass. If he were here, he'd offer this quote: "I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give, so don't be troubled or afraid" - John 14:27. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Ronald.
