Obituary of Frank Esposito

Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Frank Ralph Esposito, 75, passed away peacefully at his home in Yonkers, NY, on January 1, 2025. Born on October 5, 1949, in the
Bronx, NY, Frank spent his formative years on Villa Avenue, surrounded by family, friends, and a strong sense of community. Frank was the beloved son of the late Gennaro Esposito and Antoinette (Pietrangolare) Esposito. He grew up alongside his twin brother, Gennaro “Jerry” Esposito, his older sister Marie Esposito, and his younger sister Rose Esposito O’Connor. A proud patriot, Frank enlisted in the Army during wartime and honorably served his country in Vietnam. He was always proud to display his veteran hats and medals and had great respect for others who served as well. A proud Bronx native, Frank held close ties to his neighborhood. He was a member of the 1972 NYC champion stickball team named “Villa Avenue Boys” later inducted into the Stickball Hall of Fame, and a key member of the Villa Cavaliers and Buzzin Cousins softball teams. Sundays were reserved for card games at the club and enjoying his mother Letta’s famous meatballs and gravy, a tradition he treasured and carried on after her passing. In 1987, Frank purchased his first home in Carmel, NY, where he lived with his wife Elizabeth and their son. While in Carmel, Frank enjoyed raising his family, fishing and creating great friendships in “the country.” After retiring, Frank relocated to Florida, where he enjoyed his golden years surrounded by fellow New York transplants. He spent his days golfing, relaxing on the beach, and enjoying the lively atmosphere of the Delray Beach strip. Frank’s life took a joyous turn when he became a grandfather. He moved back to Yonkers to be closer to his family and treasured the time he spent with his beautiful grandchildren, whose lives he became deeply involved in. Frank spent much of his career as a dedicated member of the NYC Sanitation Department and later as a shop steward for Local 79 Laborers Union, retiring from both with great pride. Predeceased by his beloved wife and childhood sweetheart, Elizabeth (Parrotta) Esposito, in 2000, Frank found joy in cherishing the family they built together. He is survived by his loving children, Dawne and Frank Esposito; daughter-in-law Kara Esposito; and his three grandsons, Matthew (15), Christian (12), and Daniel (11) who he loved tremendously. His siblings, Marie Esposito, Jerry Esposito, and Rose Esposito O’Connor, also mourn his loss, as do his mother-in-law Elizabeth (Belloise) Parrotta, brother-in-law Eugene Parrotta and sister- in-law Karen (Parrotta) Ferguson. Frank will be remembered as a man of kindness, generosity, and a big heart. A sharp dresser who appreciated fine jewelry, he loved playing golf, fishing with a cigar in hand, and watching the Yankees and a good movie. Above all, Frank was a devoted family man, cherishing time spent with his children and grandchildren, family and great friends. Frank will be missed for his warm greetings, big hugs, and kisses on the cheek to both men and women in true Italian form. Frank’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Frank will be laid to rest beside his beloved Elizabeth at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson.
