Obituary of Lena A. Musco

Please share a memory of Lena to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lena A. Musco Lena was born on July 11, 1927 to Parents Tomaso and Adriana Campone of the Bronx, NY, and passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, January 6, 2025. Lena was sibling #11 among a total of 13 children. She grew up in a big happy, Italian American family and was very close to her brothers and sisters. The Campone family celebrated monthly get-togethers and many, many celebrations throughout Lena's 97 years. Her ties with her family were so that she spent practically every weekend with them (her sisters, especially) in her older years. Lena graduated from Manhattan High School of Women's Garment Trades when she was 18 (in 1945) and started her first job as a seamstress in NYC. She watched the small plane accidentally fly into the Empire State Building at that time. Shortly after, Lena started her 17-year career working at Macy's Department Store on 34th Street as a salesclerk, and always remembered working in the gift-wrapping department and volunteering at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade as her favorite experiences. Her love of homemaking was inspired by the home designs and table setting displays at Macy's. Lena married the love of her life, Nicholas T. Musco on February 11, 1961, and moved to Yonkers, NY. They had three beautiful children, Nicholas, Joanne, and Roseanne. Lena and Nick celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in 1986 and renewed their vows at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Nepera Park among family and friends. Lena was widowed a month after their beautiful ceremony, in March 1986. Lena decided to start a new career as a teacher's aide in 1989 and loved the experience working with teachers and kindergarten - first grade students at School 16 in Yonkers. Lena retired after 10 years in 1999 and started to care for her new grandchildren Dino and Adriana, while being available for all her beloved grandchildren, Nicole, Daniella, Alexis, Alexandra and Isabella. Lena was a proud resident of Yonkers, NY, and parishioner at St. Anthony's Church for over 63 years. She and her husband Nick shared a loving and happy home, holding many, if not all family holidays and many extended family celebrations at their Yonkers home over the years. Lena loved life and enjoyed family and friends for a full and happy life. Lena is survived by her children Nicholas, Brenda, Joanne, Dino and Roseanne and Robert and her grandchildren Nicole, Daniella, Alexis, Dino, Adriana, Alexandra and Isabella. Lena is also survived by her sister Mimi Palermo, sister-in-law Fran Campone and her many loving nieces and nephews. Lena was the center of our family and will always be in our hearts.
